Last picture from Qutab Minar from my phone !

“Alai Minar was the brainchild of Alauddin Khilji, the most brilliant and ruthless of all the Delhi sultans. The plan was to build a minaret twice the height of the Qutab Minar, but the gargantuan project never really got off the ground and all that remains is a large stump of rubble.”

The Iron Pillar in the central courtyard at Qutab Minar.

This unusual pillar is thought to have been made in Bihar in the 4th century and later brought to Delhi by the Tomars. Remarkably it has remained rust free for over 1,500 years.

Aibak demolished 27 Hindu and Jain temples to make way for his mosque. The temple pillars were incorporated into the arcade of the central courtyard diving it a Hindu appearance.

And check out the awesome timing with the airplane flying over 😉

I love this side of the tower with the gate but the morning is not the time of the day to take this picture. 😉
