Monday Murals Reminiscing Old Changi Days by Yip Yew Chong

This 37m long mural at Changi Airport Terminal 4 Basement level reminisces the old Changi days before Changi Airport was built in 1970s. From aeroplane-watching at Changi beach, to peeking over the fence of the Royal Air Force Station; From playing ‘tarik upih’ with village kids, to shopping and dining at the variety of shophouses lining Changi Village; The mural transports you to a charming old world brimming with new aspirations.

Instead of taking a picture of the long mural on each side of the corridor I decided to take a picture of each panel and post them over a longer period of time. The murals are so full of details it seems like a waste of the artist work to not give it justice.

In case you are interested here‘s the Speedup video of my session of the photo shoot with Jeremy Cowart (the original was 10+ minutes long!)

He usually live stream the sessions but there were some technical difficulties that day and he couldn’t so I decided to screen record it. Unfortunately once I was online with him it cut the audio on the recording (Not sure I would have shared our conversation anyway) so I added some music to make it less boring.

For the techies: I editd the video with LumaFusion. I had read amazing reviews from people I follow on social media and thought they were doing their editing on Apple Final Cuts and/or Adobe Premiere. I took the plunge because I was reaching the limit of what Photoshop could do with videos.

PS: wordpress/email readers… you might need to click the link below to see the video.
