We could have done a few small treks to different waterfalls at different points of our trip but you’ll just get this picture of Rawana waterfall because well it just fell right next to the road. 😜

It currently ranks as one of the widest falls in the country.
It measures approximately 25 m (82 ft) in height and cascades from an oval-shaped concave rock outcrop.
It turns into what is said to resemble an areca flower with withering petals during local wet season.

That’s all I’ve got for your Trivia Pursuit knowledge 😉

“Kuang Si Waterfall is the biggest in the Luang Prabang area with three tiers leading to a 50-metre drop into spectacular azure pools before flowing downstream. The pools also make great swimming holes and are very popular with both tourists and locals”

If it hadn’t been for the rain we wouldn’t had the chance to feel like Indiana Jones ;-).

On the left, what I was expecting (ie from social media and tourism guide)
On the right, what we experiment because of the major rain the night before. 😂
From talking to people, the day before it was turquoise color pools like the pictures and will be in two days when all the rain fall will be over!!

Kuang/Kouang Si Waterfall is one of the, if not THE, highlight of any visit to Luang Prabang.

I did a lot of research (go early to avoid the crowd, hike to the top to avoid the crowd and have a different perspective, …), looked at so many pictures (oooh and wow at the turquoise colors pools) and then the night before we were scheduled to go the skies opened and pour all the water it could…

Calm waterfalls cascading into turquoise-color pools was not meant to be ;-).
