The game we play.

Currently at odd between getting up early to enjoy the “cooler” temperature (and it’s “cooler” in its comparative form!) and going with my daily tasks at normal hours and playing hid and seek with the scorching sun 🤔

On the plus side you get to try out creative angle with the sun and the shadows for your pictures 😉

When you are all so excited to be able to go to the restaurant even if it’s just 2-person seating allowed that you need to document it so that in years to come you’ll remember this moment 🙄😂

See you on December 21st little Solarcan to find out the result of a 6-month long exposure with a pinhole camera tracking the sun from the Summer Solstice to the Winter Solstice.

Monday Art by Murals Artist Yip Yew Chong.

Masjid Omar Kampong Melaka – 2020

In 1820, one year after Raffles’ landing, Arab merchant and philanthropist Syed Omar bin Ali Aljunied built the very first Mosque in Singapore – the Masjid Omar Kampong Melaka. The Mosque served the early Muslin settlers in a Kampong south of the Singapore River which Raffles designated for Muslims, including Raffles’ tutor, Munshi Abdullah, who once lived in the kampong. This digital oil painting is a re-imagination of the Mosque in 1920. It was specially painted for a book that commemorates the Mosque’s 200th anniversary

Back in March/April Yip Yew Chong had a few exhibitions across Singapore. The first one was at ArtPorters gallery with some of his mural inspired art and then 2 exhibitions back to back, one at the Substation, followed by one in the hotel Sofitel. Those pieces were slightly different than his murals but still very intrigued and detailed paintings. You could lose yourself in front of each of his canvas. I will post one each Monday (it will last until the end of the year!!! Yeah one less post to think about 😉)

Today was the day we were supposed to fly to France for our summer vacation.

It was a rebooking made a year ago by the company since we weren’t leaving Singapore with J at the end of our posting and they offered to reschedule the ticket.

A year ago we thought we could use this ticket but as the months passed we realized that we wouldn’t be able to leave and be certain we would be allowed back in Singapore in time for the start of the last school year.

So once again we are rescheduling, one last time, this flight for June 2022.

PS: I had planned to make a trip to Changi Airport and spend some time at The Jewel but it’s closed, so we cannot even pretend we were taking a trip to nowhere!

Good morning.

Day one of summer school holiday. …. 57 more to go. #ButWhoIsCounting?

Note to self: remember to turn off all alarms… you do not need to see the sun rises for the next 2 months (unless you want to!)

And just like that, it’s the end of the school year. Not quite in the blink of an eye, but we survived 😉.

Goodbye Year 11… and in less than 60 days he’ll be a Senior 😱

Singapore: We have 20 new Covid-19 cases in the community… so plans to ease the rules on June 21 are being relooked and we are evaluating the “timing and scope” of Singapore’s reopening, given the “major new cluster”

France: We are currently down to 3,000+ new cases so we are ending Covid curfew earlier and wearing masks outdoor is no longer mandatory from June 21.

Me: Ordering a new shipment of my non-booze booze.

FYI: Yesterday, June 16, France had 44 coronavirus deaths (according to one source). Singapore had 34 coronavirus death… in TOTAL since the beginning of the pandemic. #StaySafe. #StaySane.

We are about half way between Christmas 2020 and Christmas 2021… if you are in Singapore it means it’s time to test this year Christmas decorations look.

Of course just like last year everyone had to comment on the expat forum 😂 But on a side note the test run this year has been done on the road leading to the main Orchard road (slightly more discreet but nothing pass the bored expat wives 😉)

This has been my Tuesday’s view for the last 3 years in Singapore and hopefully for another year.

Next year around this time it will be replaced by some other type of trees.

Appreciate the view while you have it.

Also the other trees will be as cherished.
