I didn’t have a photo in waiting to post but it’s Tuesday so there’s always outrigger canoe.

So here’s a picture of our oc6 canoe just before leaving for our 2-hour training session around Sentosa island this morning.

Sorry (not sorry?!) if the weather is not so great where you are reading this from, I will feel your pain in delay next year 😂

When you start to be comfortable in your training, coach Denes like to throw some nice surprise at us… like attaching 2 canoes together.

oc12 and 1-hour long stretch non stop. I need a nap

Woodworking Workshop – The Crew &
The masterpiece!

Is it French Merci or English Merci? 😉

GuangJun (owner of Tombalek), Rashid and Ryan who helped me during this, initially 8-week/class turned into 11 weeks/classes, woodworking workshop.

7-Dec-2021: D-194 before departure

I spent 2 years doing woodworking workshop. This was my first completed piece. I did a few other pieces after that first one. (Follow the link above!)

As much as I sometime questioned my sanity for going weeks after weeks and resigning even for more projects I really enjoyed my days at the workshop.

GuangJun started with a small atelier (I was the second batch of the workshop for the chair they taught). I was probably the first female Ang Moh to go and I still remember their face the first day I showed up. Tombalek had become a big workshop with many offers nowadays. So proud (of myself and them)

~~~ Just a little FYI So for my last 200 days in Singapore I have decided to reblog, in no special order, a post from the 6 years I will have spent on the Little Red Dot. I have excluded pictures of our trips because I have already reposted them while we were stuck on our Little island during the past 2 years (& you can find them here!). PS: you will then get 2 posts a day!! ~~~
The outrigger canoe session where you realize that your direction fin doesn’t work and you go in circles or wherever the current takes you which is not necessarily where you want to go 🙄.
At least you’ve got your exercise of the week.
Follow up on yesterday’s post.
Well once I learnt that the article was published in a daily newspaper and I wouldn’t be able to find the hard copy the next day I had to go on a hunt… at 9pm.
All the local markets near our condo were already closed so I needed to find a 24/7 place which would have it. After 2 bus rides and getting lost in a HDB, I found it.
The lady at the counter seemed perplex when I asked her where I could find the newspaper… looked at me twice (making sure she was indeed talking to an Ang Moh under the mask) and said but it’s in Chinese. I told her I was just interested by the photos 😉😂
I have been doing Outrigger Canoe for the past 2 years now but I’m usually in a oc6 which means I share our great speed or lack of it with 5 other teammates.
Lately with the group size restrictions in Singapore, we have been doing a lot of oc2, again sharing the win and the lost with somebody else.
For the past couple weeks coach Denes has been putting me in a oc1 which mean I can only blame myself when I’m not moving in the right direction and/or the right speed.
I also had to remind him that it was the only sport I was doing*. I don’t go to the gym to help with my endurance and strength and I only go to the session once a week (some of my team mates do double sessions (the 7am and the 9 am) on Tuesday AND Thursday plus often go at least once during the weekend. I, on the other hand, congratulate myself I don’t send a text to cancel my session every Tuesday morning when my alarm clock goes off.
It’s all about the small wins 😂
* my long walks are not really helping (strength in legs is no help with outrigger canoe 🙄)
Not the first images that would pop into your mind when Singapore is mentioned, but there are some great nature spot around the island
It’s been my mission lately to show the hidden spot of Singapore… to my Singaporean friends. 😉
When you decide to go back all the way to the north of the island, at the border of Malaysia because the last time you did the hike you didn’t find the bridge and you really want to see the rainbow bridge for yourself…. and take a photo 😉
We used to take planes to seek out adventures, we are now content that we can still get on the water (either in team of 6 or team of 2 currently) for our outrigger canoe sessions every week.
Give us lemons and we’ll make lemonades.
I once read that “Money will only make you more of what you already are” (if you are an a$$ you won’t become nicer with money 😉). Well I would extend that a pandemic will accentuate your traits too. A negative person/complainer won’t all of sudden starts to see the glass half full or see their privileges. 🤷‍♀️
I tried a new workshop…. Because why not?!
Resin. It was fun and now I want to pour resin on everything 😂
NB: I forgot to start the recording most of the time after I stopped it when the teacher was giving instructions. 🙄
