How lucky was I to find a wall with a “Thank You & Merci” graffiti on a building with a hint of my age 😉
The photography gods were not on my side for this photo! First I didn’t have the little tripod I usually take with me when I go exploring, so I had to make do with my bag, a book, and some pebbles. Then my AppleWatch, which I use as a remote control for my phone camera, decided that it was out of battery so there was some sweating and maybe a little sw**ring involved. But throw me all the challenges you want and I will prevail… I’m this kind of stubborn 📷
After becoming, turning, and pushing, I finally reached… my age (+1) 😉
Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we’re kids?
If you’re less than 10 years old, you’re so excited about aging that you think in fractions. “How old are you?” “I’m four and a half!” You’re never thirty-six and a half. You’re four and a half, going on five!
That’s the key. You get into your teens, now they can’t hold you back.
You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead. “How old are you?” “I’m gonna be 16!” You could be 13, but hey, you’re gonna be 16!
And then the greatest day of your life…you become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony…YOU BECOME 21 YEARS!!!
But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk. He TURNED, we had to throw him out. There’s no fun now, you’re just a sour-dumpling. What’s wrong? What’s changed?
You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you’re PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it’s all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50… and your dreams are gone.
But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn’t think you would!
So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50, and MAKE it to 60. You’ve built up so much speed that you HIT 70!
After that it’s a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday! You get into your 80s and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30; you REACH bedtime.
And it doesn’t end there. Into the 90s, you start going backward; “I was JUST 92.”
Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. “I’m 100 and a half!”
May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!
~Often attributed to George Carlin’s view on aging (it turns out it’s not George Carlin’s words, nevertheless I recycle them every decade or so )
What would you tell your 10-year-old self if you got the chance?
I have been wanting to do this picture as soon as I saw it done a couple years ago with celebrities. Since she’s back with us, not only did I get to take her 20th birthday portrait but I asked for a couple extra poses to finally have a go at it
I was in Lombok for my birthday (btw I highly recommend having your birthday falls during school holiday every year 😜) and a friend said “I can’t wait to see the picture you come up with to celebrate your birthday”.
First I didn’t know I had to come up with a picture and second don’t dare me about picture because I will take on the challenge.
I had seen this place on a (very) few Instagram posts but it never mentioned where it was in Singapore. After some research, I did find where it was but it appears it was not in the public part of the building 😞… however when there is a will, there is a way.
Ok one last picture for J. birthday. (Nothing much is happening in my life if you haven’t noticed by my “boring” posts 😉)
After the birthday kiss over the year with mommy, here’s the reenaction of the love of a big sister for her newborn little brother, then 7 years later and another 7 years later which will be the last one as she’s about the go to university in the fall.
As you might have noticed I love long term project but if you think there are easy to pull… you have no idea how much begging I have to do. However they have learned over the years that I will keep on begging so they tend to give in more easily nowadays!!!
