Monday Murals – “A Take of Two Worlds” by Sam Lo (Skl0)

Diptych painted in January/February 2022 at Amber Hotel. This is the Businessman’s lovebird side.

“I drew links to each other through elements: -the Fisherman’s bird is enclosed in purple, similar to the purple bag in the Businessman’s. The businessman’s bag is in pink, similar to the interior of the mansion the other bird is looking at. -Both birds are looking in the direction of the golden yellow sun, with the sun signifying the direction of their love (somewhat like a lighthouse’s purpose) -Fisherman’s bird holding a pearl, similar to the string of pearls on the other bird’s wall. -Businessman’s bird wearing fish bones from the other Birds’s catch, hinted by the fishing boat ont he other’s wall (from Instagram)

I was the first one to enter the Red room at (our favorite place) The Projector but it was a full house (well with social distancing that is).

23-May-2022: D-27 before departure

When I started this countdown to departure at D-200 I quickly realized that I would need to strategize some of the posts, so I first pre scheduled the last 30 days trying to summarize “my” Singapore.

We’ve always loved going to the movie. We had a multiplex right down our apartment in Paris and spent much of our student money there. It was our weekly date night in Aberdeen. We then moved to pirated dvd land in China and transformed our living room into our own theater. A few months after moving to Singapore we discovered the alternative cineplex The Projector and try to go as often as we could. We even bought 2 of their seats so it definitely belongs to the last top 30 of my souvenir of Singapore.
