I had planned to post this photo with the caption “Glad to report it’s been 730 days without being recognized by the paparazzi in Singapore” but 2 weeks ago they shattered my dream and made the 2-year mandatory mask wearing obsolete, so it was only 715 days of incognito walking around.
Mandatory mask wearing is still mandatory indoor… we don’t go wild all at once in Singapore, we take baby steps.

. It’s Monday, there were no Around the Island Challenge this week but here’s the map of our walks. Almost 200kms walked in 37+/- hours and 16 segments Longest walk was 15.5 Kms (3h), shortest was 8kms (1.5hours) I earned that t-shirt with my sweat :-).

14-Apr-2022: D-66 before departure
When I arrived in Singapore in the summer of 2016 I remember seeing these messages on the American Women Association website about walking groups but I always felt like it was either too hot, too rainy or too early for me to sign up… that was until they advertised this “Around the Island” walk where we would walk a section every other week and hence completing a giant walk around the circumference of the little Red Dot, plus if you skipped a walk you would miss the completion of the challenge (not everyone cared about it but I DID. Cannot start something and not complete it!!)
It turned out it was the beginning of my love of exploring far fetch corners of Singapore, plus I got to meet great ladies and have great conversations along the way. I think I have visited almost all corners of Singapore. A few years later I was the one asking them to follow me on my own walking challenges across this little Red Dot.
Take a leap, sign up to as many things as possible. You don’t have to keep doing all of them but you might end up falling in love with some of them.
