My Mother and I – 2020
“When I was approached by the organisers of the charity auction to donate a painting to raise funds for orphanages, I decided to pain a new painting instead of donating an exiting painting. I wanted to give more meaning to my art. Since the funds raised would benefit orphanages, I thought a painting of my mother and I doing an activity together would be most meaningful to remind myself how lucky I have been compared to the orphans. Thus, I painted a scene of my mother and I wrapping dumplings in the soot-covered kitchen of our old Chinatown home. I am very happy I can use my art to help the less fortunate!”

Back in March/April Yip Yew Chong had a few exhibitions across Singapore. The first one was at ArtPorters gallery with some of his mural inspired art and then 2 exhibitions back to back, one at the Substation, followed by one in the hotel Sofitel. Those pieces were slightly different than his murals but still very intrigued and detailed paintings. You could lose yourself in front of each of his canvas. I will post one each Monday (it will last until the end of the year!!! Yeah one less post to think about ๐)
