Monday Murals – Waves of the Strait 2 (Aug. 209)

The murals by Yip Yew Chong in Fort Siloso on Sentosa Island actually start with Three large “windows” (which i unfortunately didn’t take a close up!) and prelude views of the Staruts in the 1400s, 1800s and 1970s

And this will be my last Murals from Yip Yew Chong but not last painting from him 😉

You can find all of his murals here

I made him go for a walk at the Botanical Gardens.

He couldn’t refuse because it’s French Mother’s Day.

I have no shame in blackmail guilt 😂

It’s the time of the year when I need to wait patiently (and anxiously) after pushing the summit button of my Long Term Visitor Pass (LTVP) application that allows me to stay another year (finale year) in Singapore. 🤞

It’s all about celebrating small victories*

Most condos have closed their pools, mostly because it’s hard to comply with all the restrictions (strict number of people in the pool, distance between groups of 2, etc).

But the pools (we have 2 big ones and 3 small ones) at our condominium haven’t been closed because so far people have been pretty good and know it can change very quickly.

I don’t even go to the pool (I know totally wasted on me but I do love the whole common area of our condominium) but I’m happy for all the people who do go and all the kiddos who need it to distract them from HBL and summer vacation soon.

Reminiscence of Vesak* day spent at Borobudur Temple in Yogyakarta, Indonesia 4 years ago.

This day off in the middle of the week really mess up my weekly schedule… oh wait we have no weekly schedule when we are on lockdown-that-is-not-a-lockdown. 😂

*Vesak also known as Buddha Jayanti, Buddha Puṇṇamā and Buddha Day, is a holiday traditionally observed by Buddhists and Hindus in South and Southeast Asia as well as Tibet and Mongolia. The festival commemorates the birth, enlightenment (Nibbāna), and death (Parinirvāna) of Gautama Buddha in Theravada Tibetan Buddhism and Navayana.

When you resolve to walk around a cemetery for your weekly hike to avoid the crowds 😂

Singaporean have a newfound urge of walking around their island. The Green/Railway corridor (done it) and the Coast-to-Coast hike (done it also) have become very crowded (even if they don’t necessarily do the whole walk and only sections). The Clementi Forrest which was once upon a time a peaceful jungle resembles a highway of people. I even read an article about a Singaporean walking around the island (done it about 4+ years ago!!)

Monday Murals – Waves of the Strait – Aug 2019

For some reason I’ve never posted those “murals” from Yip Yew Chong you can find at Fort Siloso on Sentosa island.

We usually go to the hawkers center for lunch on Sunday. We couldn’t stay and eat there this week (and until 13th of June) but I made sure to still support the hawkers because they are the one who are hit the hardest. With meal for less than S$5 it’s hard to justify a delivery if you don’t live nearby.

When your Singaporean photographer friend text you: Do you want to go shoot? You’ve never replied to a message this fast, where do I need to be and at what time?

Sunset at Bedok Reservoir with KY. It’s been way too long, let’s do it again.
