Tale of a Total TaiTai who was in Beijing & Beyond and is now in Singapore & Surroundings!

After a very short night we were on the road again (2 hour drive) to go see Tianchi 天池 – Heavenly Lake.

Situated at almost 2,000m altitude, the lake lies on the north side of the Bogda Shan (“Mountain of God”, Bogda is a Mongolian word meaning “God”) range of the Tian Shan (“Mountain of Heaven”)

Ticket in hands we are now awaiting our departure for Urumqi in the booming train station.

2 hours car ride to the train station, 5 hours train ride before reaching our destination… what a road trip!

(DunHuang) LiuYuanNan to WuLuMuQi (Urumqi)

This was not an easy ticket to get. But nothing unusual for China 😉

We decided to get the ticket from the train station in Zhangye because we had a bit of time before departure. We had the reservation number, the email but apparently my passport number didn’t appear in the system. We kind of figured out what it was but she was adamant that we didn’t have a reservation for both of us first, then she “found” Elke’s but not mine. Since the ticket was not for a train departing from this station and that day she thought we would give up. She had no idea who she was up against and after about 30 minutes of “talk” she “found” my ticket but still said the number didn’t match. She wasn’t about to lose face to foreigners and she just wasn’t going to admit that the I in the passeport number was indeed a letter and not the number 1.
