Coffee and morning newspaper.

Something I don’t do often (and enough) outside of France. There is something special about reading the news (and especially the local news) in a paper form that is incomparable to reading it on line.

Adding a map on our wall of “places we lived”.

Adding Singapore (well actually more a map of Malaysia/Indonesia… map of only Singapore are hard to come by plus the country is only 52 years old and we are looking for vintage maps!).

The 4 center ones are from places we lived and where one of us was born (USA, France, Argentina, Scotland) then we have on the left China (lived there twice but only one map 😉) and on the right Norway.

I guess we will have to move to another European country for our next Expat to balance out our wall grouping 😜

A real pro… in Petanque.
Needs to work on (for?!) the “retirement” part

Daughter might decide to skip the whole years of working and go directly to retirement after Friday night Petanque session at the grandparents condominium ;-).

I was thinking I would be posting a nice picture of the blood moon lunar eclipse I would have captured last night. I even had planned on going to my parents place because I live too close to the mountains so the moon isn’t visible until much later at night.

After weeks of heatwave and not a single cloud in the sky… yep you guessed it, a full cover of clouds came upon us late afternoon. No moon in sight red, blue or white 😦

I could have post a black picture to commemorate the event of what I saw instead here’s a picture of me having my coffee under the shelter while it’s drizzling. I’m happy about the milder temperature but we could have “suffer” just an extra day in order to witness the longest lunar eclipse. Just saying!!

And just like that it’s the end of his 3-week summer camp.
Three weeks full of awesome activities (canyoning, paragliding, potholing/speleology, mountain board, mountain bike….) and then I, myself, get to refresh my French slang (2018 version) when I get him back 😉

Sign of a sweaty afternoon.

Apartment living has it pluses… especially when it’s 35C outside 😉

38 shades of sand

Darkest is from Amed in Bali, Indonesia
Whitest is from Maya Beach (THE Beach) in Koh Phi Phi, Thailand
Red-est” is from Applecross in Scotland
And the “Chunkiest” is from Shell Beach in St Barthelemy (St Barts) where the entire beach is made of small shells … not the most comfortable as you can probably guess!

PS: I have another 12-15 that are in different containers and I need to transfer them into those small test tubes.

Absolutely nothing on the agenda today.

Time to relax in the hammock under the big tree shade with a good book. Perfect temperature and a light breeze to rock me.

exotic [ig-zot-ik]
adjective
of foreign origin or character; not native; introduced from abroad, but not fully naturalized or acclimatized: exotic foods; exotic plants.

For me exotic fruits were mangoes, papayas, mangosteens, ananas or even kiwis when I was really little (then we grew some in our garden and they became less “exotic” in my eyes) but now after living in Asia 8 years I’m all exited about peaches, cherries, apricots because they’ve become the exotic fruits.

Perception… It’s all about the point of reference.
