Les Halles was Paris’ central fresh food market in the early 18th century. Located in the heart of the city, the original one was demolished in 1971 and replaced with the Forum des Halles, a modern shopping mall built largely underground and directly connected to the RER & Metro. This new version started to be built in 2010 and the gardens surrounding the area are almost completed.

Les Halles was known as the “Belly of Paris”;

It still is to an extend with a great melting pot of people: locals and tourists from different ethnicities
