Temple fair is a big part of celebrating the Chinese New Year. There are several fairs all over town and we’ve been to several over the years so we decided to try a new one this year.

Changdian temple fair has been around since the reign of the Jiajing Emperor (1512-1567) in the Ming dynasty. Historically the fair took place in an area that container three temples near Liulichang but it has since been moved to Taoranting Park.

It was a gorgeous day to walk around (blue sky and quite a lot warmer than just a few weeks ago), we try to decipher signs from the food vendors stalls and didn’t end up with any weird food !!! On a bonus point it was a little out of the expat circle (we didn’t see any other foreigners!).
